Political Issues

  • Pledges that his vice president will be young,  no older than forty-five
  • Pledges to ensure that the new constitution protects  human rights and freedoms
  • Intends to focus on the freedom of the judiciary to ensure the rule of law
  • Supports an end to all military trials for civilians
  • Supports a parliamentary rather than presidential system for Egypt
  • Rejects all forms of discrimination among Egyptians
  • Believes the president should be a servant of the Egyptian people
  • Opposes imposing Islamic law on non-Muslims

Socioeconomic Issues

  • Calls for the promotion of education and scientific research
  • States that education should be 25 percent of budget and should be free for all through to the university level
  • Acknowledges that health insurance is a basic right for all Egyptians
  • Emphasizes that it is unacceptable that Egypt imports half of its wheat and domestic agriculture must be developed to make Egypt more self-sufficient
  • Maintains that measures must be taken to develop tourism to boost the economy

Foreign Policy

  • Holds that the new parliament must develop a new understanding of the relationship between the  Egyptian and the Israeli governments to better serve the needs of Egypt
