Prior to his appointment as minister of higher education, Dr. Mostafa El Sayed Mosaad, was responsible for the education platform in Mohamed Morsi’s presidential campaign. He was previously a professor at Cairo University as well as the head of the education committee for the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party. Following his appointment, Dr. Mosad pledged to be politically inclusive. He stated recently, “I am a minister for all academics. I will not be biased against anyone because of his political leaning.” As minister, he plans to draft a long-term strategy for developing higher education and helping Egyptian universities become more independent.
