Preliminary Draft of Egypt’s New Constitution Released

On October 4, Egypt’s Constituent Assembly released its preliminary draft to the public during its first public hearing. The Constituent Assembly has stated that the draft is incomplete and that language has not been finalized. The draft lacks a preamble and articles on the common provisions of the law and is expected to change before it is voted on by the Constituent Assembly members and then submitted to a referendum

The current draft constitution consists of five parts and 13 chapters containing 230 articles and its structure is as follows:
